ID.Buzz

Revealed on June 2nd, the North American Edition of the ID.Buzz is longer (about 25 centimeters more) than the model that sells in Europe, and reminds us of the original Microbus Type 1, by reclaiming some of its design elements for a truly successful retro style. Moreover, the powertrain provides you with 282 horsepower, which is 81 horsepower more than its European cousin. By opting for an all-wheel drive model, you will enjoy more power, 330 HP to be exact. Rear-wheel drive is the standard offered drivetrain.

The good news is that our version of the ID.Buzz will offer 2- to 3- rows of seats, for up to 7- passengers, compared to 5- on the other markets. It can also engulf up to 2,469 liters of cargo.

For the time being, we still do not have any official prices or features for the ID.Buzz. We will have to be patient for at least a few more months, before we can find out more about this model, due to arrive around the end of 2024.

Moreover, this midsize sedan offers a spacious and high-end interior that can welcome up to 5- passengers, and will provide everyone with remarkable levels of comfort, without forgetting all of the latest cutting-edge technologies.

The Volkswagen ID.7 will be equipped with an all-new powertrain with 282 horsepower and 402 lb-ft. maximum torque; it will come with a rear-wheel drive drivetrain, although there is a chance that a more powerful model with an all-wheel drive drivetrain might be offered later on.

The ID family, across the rest of the world

First revealed in March 2023, the Volkswagen ID.2 should be commercialized in 2025 and, according to Volkswagen, will offer an electric range of around 450 kilometers. Although no official prices have been revealed, this is a model that sells for under 25,000 Euros, and it compares to the Volkswagen Golf in terms of silhouette and dimensions.

You will also find the 2nd generation VW ID.3, a compact electric Volkswagen car that offers up to 557 kilometers of electric range and 204 horsepower.

Will these models cross the Atlantic and reach the North American market? We do not yet have any official information on the subject. However, what we know for sure, is that the list of electric vehicles sold by Volkswagen is sure to get longer over the course of the next few years!

VW Charging Infrastructure and Electric Range

The electric range offered by electric Volkswagen vehicles is presently around 400 kilometers, but the models that will begin to appear over the course of the next few years will push this limit higher, closer to 500 kilometers, as we can see on the already available VW European models and their specs. Moreover, it is possible to charge your electric Volkswagen on a level 2 or 3 station, or a 120 V domestic outlet. Obviously, charging times to fully charge your battery on your Volkswagen vehicle will depend on the type of charging station you are using:

  • 120V: Up to 2 days
  • 240V (level 2): Between 8 and 10 hours
  • 400V and more (level 3): Around 30 minutes (9-10 km/minute)
